EVERYONE IS WELCOME IN GOD'S FAMILY

Ever wondered how to explain the concept that we are all part of God’s spiritual family to your younger kids?

Here are some fun and easy steps you can follow to have fun and faith filled session with your kids.

START WITH:

Get the talking stick out….

Choose a random utensil from your home (example a spatula from the kitchen) and introduce it as the ‘talking stick’. Take turns holding the talking stick and introduce yourself to the rest of the family. Example: Hi, I am John and I like soccer.

Play the baby photo competition….

Print and place a baby photo of each member of the family upside down. Have everyone pull a print out and guess what family member it is… You can also talk about how special each member of the family is and perhaps recall a special memory from everyone’s baby days. Try and spot any physical resemblances you might share with each other… like mum’s eyes or nose or perhaps dad’s hair colour or toes.

CONNECT WITH:

Read Galatians 4: 4-6

Take a moment here to talk about how God takes so much pleasure in creating us and that he puts a special combination of DNA in each person. When we become one of God’s children and are adopted into his family and God puts his spiritual DNA inside each of us. When God adopts us into his huge and awesome family, we can trust in Him. This means we don’t have to rely on our own strength alone. When we ask Jesus to be our saviour and to forgive our sins, he writes our name in his book of life forever! Being in God’s family means having a heavenly father who is proud of us, smiling at us and noticing when we are kind and loving to others. He will also help you and guide you and will never ever leave you.

END WITH:

PRAY Together

Thank you God that we can belong to a human family as well as to your spiritual family. Amen
