REAL STORIES

AUGUSTA

Augusta, 41, Angola, on the launch of the New Testament in Umbundu with her Bible and her 18-month-old son. “There is so much in the Bible that feeds my soul, so many teachings. In the Bible we have everything. The New Testament in Umbundu brings great joy to me.”

Beneficiary Impact Total number of people this project aims to impact: 6000000

The Umbundu ethnic group is the majority in Angola. It represents about 40% of the population and is the most widely spoken indigenous language. The Umbundu language is the second most spoken language in the country accounting for 23 percent, the beneficiary focus is People of faith- women, men and young people. Our focus is that the Word of God is read and is available to everyone and in the language that everyone understands. There is a great difficulty for many to read and understand Portuguese because, since their childhood, the mother tongue was the one they believed with them. For a wide acceptance of the new translation, it is necessary to visit the speakers and church leaders and work closely with reviewers in the provinces where Umbundu is the major language. The translation will benefit the reader through the texts in the language their mother tongue, easy and enjoyable and that they can understand without major complications.

WHAT OTHERS SAY

I’ve learned so much from the monthly reports, not only about Bible work in various countries, but also about the various countries themselves. It’s a very interesting read and it means I can pray with sincerity and knowledge.

I cannot imagine getting along without my Bible and I’m so happy that others will find the Lord Jesus and be able to grow in their knowledge and love of him.

FAQ's

No. We welcome any gift no matter how small of large. However, for every $15, you will donate a Bible and by committing monthly, you will enable us to make a bigger impact around the world. You can also support this cause by adding $3 to you purchase at Manna Christian Stores.

We hope you’ll be in a position to keep helping deliver Bibles around the world, but if not, you can cancel your gift at any time.

Probably the easiest way ever to be actively involved in the Great Commission. ‘Bible-a-Month Regular Giving’ is a Bible Society New Zealand initiative, that support people globally who need access to a Bible. This include children and youth, ethnic minorities, refugees and migrants and people in conflict areas, or disabilities as in visually impaired, and for every $15 we received, we place a life giving Bible into the hands of someone who need it the most.
